Focusing
Focusing is a reflective practice that brings the mind back to its natural centre in the body. It restores our inner equilibrium, renews the spirit, and helps us find our way forward through the opportunities and challenges that life presents.
I see people for one to one Focusing sessions online, one hour at a time for reflective and nourishing support. We explore knotty issues, difficult decisions, and creative conundrums from the perspective of the bodily felt sense of things. These can be one-off sessions or a series thereof, regular or irregular. I work with people from all walks of life, including writers, artists, and theatre people, on personal and work-related matters.
Having offered a workshop programme in Focusing and accompanying listening skills in London for over 30 years, I brought this to a conclusion at the end of 2023. I shall continue to teach Focusing when invited to do so (by someone else who does the organising!), especially the applications of Focusing I have developed over the years: decision making, creative thinking and, facing the future with the felt sense.
In 2025 I shall be teaching a workshop on focusing-oriented trauma therapy from a neuroscience perspective to students in Budapest, and a four day workshop ‘Facing climate change with the felt sense’ at the UK Focusing School.
I am a founder member of, and mentor for, the British Focusing Association (BFA), a coordinator for the International Focusing Institute (TIFI), and have recently joined the European Focusing Association steering group.
